FULL DAY SEMINAR SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR:

The course is designed to assist code users (Building Officials, Plans Examiners, Inspectors, Design Professionals, Contractors & others) in the importance and understanding of the methodology of scoping accessibility in the 2016 CBC. Upon completion participants will be better able to identify the requirements for all elements of accessibility; identify the applicability of design, plan review and inspection requirements on accessibility; explain differences in scoping projects between current and previous code editions; identify key changes in accessibility and code requirements under the 2016 CBC.  This advanced course will involve hands on plan review and code application.  Each participant is required to bring with them Volume 1 of 2016 CBC.

CREDITS: This course is approved for on-going education hours. A certificate of continuing education will be provided at the conclusion of class.

SPEAKER: GARY LAYMAN is the Chief Building Official for the City of Oroville, California and an ICC Certified Building Official and Certified Access Specialist (CASp) who has performed accessibility surveys and inspections both in California and Nevada since 1987. He has represented numerous clients in ADA accessibility litigation as an expert in both state and federal complaints. He currently serves as the Past President & Director of Professional Practice Standards for the Certified Accessibility Specialist Institute (CASI) and Chair of the CALBO Access Committee. Additionally, Gary received an award of recognition from Governor Brown for the development of the Construction Accessibility Checklist.
